My Mohair Shrug / Shawl a Tunisian work in progress

I purchased this lovely mohair on eBay a while ago and I wasn't sure of what I could do with it. After looking at all the different projects that people on Ravelry have made using mohair, I thought the best thing would be a simple wrap type shawl that I might embellish with small sead beads when finished.

More as we go along.

Busy has been the reason

There have been so many different things I have made over the past few weeks but haven't had the chance to get them listed. I'm not going to say anything about each just give them a title and a picture, so I have a record here.

Well that brings everything up to date that is finished. I will put up pics of works in progress..

Meerkat is finished & I am chuffed

-: Introducing Murphy :-

All finished and I think he has turned out pretty darn good.

Meerkat Update

I wasn't going to post pictures of the progress of the meerkat, but after completing one of the legs and giving him (Murphy as I have affectionately called him) another brush. I am really really happy with how he is coming along. He is really begining to look like a meerkat. So I have taken some pictures of him while he is still in pieces to show his progress.

I should be finished Murphy tonight. He is made with Patons Spirit Mohair and brushed with a slicker brush (either cat or dog fur brush). The self striping yarn has given a great effect to the fur. I have also used a bamboo yarn that brushes up to give a lovely soft short fur effect.

Hot Pads for your kitchen table

I purchased a fabulous pattern from the U.S for Table Hot Pads and Towel Toppers. They are made using a few strands of yarn at a time, and are quite tricky and fiddly despite their simple patterns.  These are my first results.

Anemone (above)

Sunflower (above)

I am quite pleased with the way they have turned out. The anemone measures  22cm across the diameter from the tips of the green leaves.  The sunflower measures  28cm accross from tip to tip of the green leaves.  Miss 5 has requested that the next one I do be a pink rose.

Meerkats in progress

It's so nice that the weather has cooled down a little.  I have been very frustrated at not being able to do any crochet because of the heat.  I was in the middle of making my first meerkat (which is going to be a gift) when the heat wave hit last week.  I have now nearly finished meerkat number one and look forward to making it's mate.

Here is a link to the pattern for the meerkats

I will post some photos either when "it" is finished or a couple showing my progress

iPod Case for Akala

My friends daughter recieved an iPod for Christmas but wasn't sure about carrying it around. So I whipped up an iPod purse/bag for her. I just guessed the size and winged the pattern. Main elements were for it to be girlie, pink & purple.  Needless to say it was a big hit and she loved it.

I used purple 8ply acrylic, Pink eyelash yarn and pink chenille yarn.

Another Puppy Dog

Another Puppy goes off to it's new home. I like to talk about them here because it gives me a visual record of what they looked like.

I did this one's handles on a smaller sized hook, but it did not hide the stuffing. I spent the day trying to dye the polyfibre stuffing with all sorts of things, to no avail.

Manta Ray

This little fellow is very cute. He has pipe cleaners stitched inside his wings to make him poseable.

He is keeping dad company for now while he is undergoing rehabilitation.
